To honor Las Cruces’ dads, grandfathers, and father figures the City of Las Cruces will host a virtual Father’s Day Celebration at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2020.
The virtual event is organized by the Quality of Life Department as part of its #Cruces Cares initiative and will be broadcasted on the City’s Facebook page @CityofLasCruces. The event includes music performances by Mexican pianist Romeyno Gutiérrez and Mexican folk band Los Pachamama, courtesy of the Mexican Consulate in El Paso, plus Father’s Day crafts and kid-friendly activities.
“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, spending face-to-face time with our favorite people has required a little creativity. We wanted to offer an option to celebrate DAD while observing the social distancing requirements,” said Lynn Gallagher, Quality of Life Director.
By the direction of New Mexico’s Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham mass gatherings remain unsafe and are prohibited. New Mexicans are still urged to stay home, especially if sick or in a high-risk group, and to maintain a 6-foot physical distance from others if they must go out.
City of Las Cruces news releases are available on the home page of the City website at las-cruces.org under News & Announcements and can be translated into Spanish and multiple other languages using the Select Language feature on the lower right side of the page.
