[ARCHIVED] Fire Damages Home on Carlyle Drive

Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a residential structure fire that damaged a home on Carlyle Drive early Thursday morning.

The fire was reported shortly after 12 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at 1820 Carlyle Drive. Firefighters from Fire Station 1 arrived to find a large amount of smoke and flames emitting from the home. Additional crews were called in and the fire was extinguished shortly thereafter.

The home appeared to have no occupants and no injuries were reported.

The main body of the fire appeared to be confined to one bedroom, but flames extended into the home’s attic. The home received extensive fire, smoke and water damage. The extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
