Las Cruces has a great virtual opportunity to weigh in for a second time on the rehabilitation of a beloved landmark, Unidad Community Park, 1500 E. Hadley. The City of Las Cruces invites community members to watch an engaging presentation that outlines a proposed plan for the General Obligation (GO) Bond project, which reflects feedback and ideas received from the community during the first phase of design input in February 2020. The presentation can be found at www.las-cruces.org/GOBondProjects or by clicking the YouTube icon on the home page. Deadline for feedback is 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, July 7.
The GO Bond project includes improvements and a splash pad addition to the park. Unidad Park, the first community-built park in Las Cruces, was opened in 2001. Hand-painted tiles decorate the front entrance and names are etched on the fence slats surrounding the park to commemorate community members who helped raise the funds to support the project.
Status of this and other GO Bond projects can be found in the Public Works Go Bond website at www.las-cruces.org/GoBondProjects. For more information, call Public Works at 575/528-3333 or email clcengage@las-cruces.org.
