The Parks and Recreation Department announced that the City of Las Cruces will celebrate Independence Day with the annual community Fourth of July Firework display starting at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, July 4. This year’s display, a throwback to when fireworks could be watched from almost every neighborhood in the city, can best be seen by looking toward the night sky generally above the center of Las Cruces beginning at about 9:15 p.m.
Due to restrictions on large gatherings mandated by the Governor’s Office and the New Mexico Health Department, no formal or additional events are associated with the display. The Las Cruces community is encouraged to view the display from their homes. Please refrain from using City-owned properties in the area to view the fireworks. The community is encouraged to avoid large group gatherings, practice social distancing, wear face coverings in public and wash hands regularly as outlined by the emergency public health order still in place.
The Parks and Recreation Department follows all state and local COVID -19 guidelines for community events with the health and safety of the community taking top priority. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 575 541-2550.
