The Las Cruces City Council will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2020 for a work session to be conducted by video conference.
The work session will be televised live at 1 p.m. Monday on CLC-TV, Comcast Cable channel 20. The work session will also be available online at clctv.com and at YouTube.com/clctv20.
At Monday’s work session the council will discuss the proposed Community Development Commercial Fee Schedule. At the council’s request, Community Development Department staff members will present the Phase II Commercial Fees Schedule. Phase 2 consists of four major elements:
- To condense all the development permit fee schedules together under on document and one Resolution, making it user friendly and transparent.
- To assure that building permit fee schedules for commercial building exhibit fair market value to the local area.
- Incorporate additional fees to pay for technology and additional staff to meet the expanding needs of the local builders and developers.
- Community Development Department staff will present any public comments received from the community.
Another topic on the agenda for Monday’s council work session is Intervention Support. The council will be updated and informed on implementing evidence-based, best practice intervention services for mental and behavioral health services, which is an integral part of improving overall community health and wellness. Crisis intervention is essential to mitigate overuse of law enforcement, emergency departments, and the justice system.
The council will be presented with seven key strategies identified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that improves community wellness, reduces costs of care, and realigns resources more appropriately.
