At Monday’s work session the council will discuss the proposed Community Development Commercial Fee Schedule. At the council’s request, Community Development Department staff members will present the Phase II Commercial Fees Schedule. Phase 2 consists of four major elements:

  1. To condense all the development permit fee schedules together under on document and one Resolution, making it user friendly and transparent.
  1. To assure that building permit fee schedules for commercial building exhibit fair market value to the local area.
  1. Incorporate additional fees to pay for technology and additional staff to meet the expanding needs of the local builders and developers.
  1. Community Development Department staff will present any public comments received from the community.

Another topic on the agenda for Monday’s council work session is Intervention Support. The council will be updated and informed on implementing evidence-based, best practice intervention services for mental and behavioral health services, which is an integral part of improving overall community health and wellness. Crisis intervention is essential to mitigate overuse of law enforcement, emergency departments, and the justice system.

The council will be presented with seven key strategies identified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that improves community wellness, reduces costs of care, and realigns resources more appropriately.

The full agenda for Monday’s council work session can be found here.

Immediately following Monday’s work session, a meeting to set the agenda for the August 17, 2020 City Council meeting will be conducted remotely via Zoom. In addition to the work session and Agenda Setting Meeting, the council will convene remotely, also via Zoom, at 9 a.m. Monday, August 10 for a closed meeting. The purpose of the closed meeting is to discuss pending litigation regarding Warren McCowan vs. Mark Morales, No. CV-17-902 MLC/GJF, U.S. District Court, which is closed pursuant to NMSA 1978, Section 10-15-1H(7).
