[ARCHIVED] Community Development Report for April

The Construction Activity Report for April was released Friday, May 10, by the Community Development Department. Summary highlights and comparisons in the April report include:

  • The year-to-date permit valuation is $57.2 million, compared to $61.1 in 2018. The total permit valuation is a decrease of approximately 6 percent.
  • The April 2019 Construction Activity Report shows development interest by investors with a valuation figure of approximately $16.2 million.
  • In April 2019, nine new commercial permits were issued with a permit valuation of $3.9 million. The commercial permit valuation is an increase of approximately 2 percent. In April 2018, eight commercial permits were issued, with a permit valuation of $3.3 million.
  • Residential Single-Family Dwelling permits for April 2019 were 48 permits vs, 49 permits in April 2018. Single Family Dwelling building permits in April 2019 were a decrease of approximately 2 percent.

The month of April 2019 resulted in a total permit valuation of $16,275,947 for all permit types.  

During the month of April one permit for new commercial construction was issued.  Additionally, one permit for a commercial addition and seven permits for commercial alterations were issued.  Three of which have a reported valuation of $100,000 or greater.  Information related to these permits is provided in the table below.

The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) public hearing for the month of April was held on Tuesday April 23, 2019.   Two cases were listed on the agenda, both of which were recommended for approval.  Synopses of the cases are included below.

The April meetings for the South Mesquite Design Review Board and the University District Design Review Committee were cancelled due to lack of development proposals submitted.
