Pursuant to the Las Cruces Municipal Code (LCMC) and New Mexico Senate Bill 437 (NM SB 437), the minimum wage will increase, effective January 1, 2021.
Under SB 437, the State of New Mexico minimum wage will increase from $9.00 to $10.50 per hour on January 1, 2021. Las Cruces City Council accepted the state’s minimum wage of $10.50 per hour (increasing the City’s minimum wage from $10.25 to $10.50), but opted to retain its own ordinance rules when it comes to tipped wages.
According to NM SB 437 State tipped wages will increase from $2.35 and hour to $2.55 on January, 2021.
According to LCMC, the minimum wage for tipped employees will increase to an amount equaled to 40% of the hourly wage. In this case, within city limits, the tipped minimum wage will increase from $4.10 an hour to $4.20 an hour.
