[ARCHIVED] Young Park Pond Water Level to be Lowered This Weekend

To ensure repairs have been successfully made to the pond at Young Park, 1905 Nevada Ave., crews with the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will be dropping the pond’s water level this weekend, beginning May 18, 2019,

Dropping the water level will enable crews to check the pond’s drain and to make sure a leak was completely fixed, when repairs to the Young Park pond were made earlier this year. Also, when the water level is dropped, the pond’s aerators will have to be turned off so the motors on that equipment don’t burn out.

If it has been determined all pond repairs are complete, refilling of the pond would begin Monday, May 20, 2019. It is anticipated the Young Park pond could be restocked with fish by the end May. Efforts to restock the pond with fish are being coordinated between the City and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.
