[ARCHIVED] City Council to Meet October 26 for a TIDD Board Meeting and Work Session

City Council

The Las Cruces City Council will meet, via video conference at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2020 serving as the a Tax Increment Development District (TIDD) Board of Commissioners meeting, followed by a Council Work Session.

Three items are on the agenda for the TIDD Board Meeting: a financial update, an update on TIDD projects, and future TIDD priorities will be discussed. The agenda for TIDD Board Meeting can be found online at: https://lascruces.civicweb.net/Portal/MeetingInformation.aspx?Org=Cal&Id=184.

The Council Work Session also has three agenda items. City Council will receive a presentation on legislative priorities and capital requests from City-hired, State Lobbyist Larry Horan. The presentation will be a preview of the 2021 New Mexico Legislative Session, beginning in January 2021. The discussion will focus on upcoming policy issues and potential capital priorities for City projects.

Additionally, the work session includes items regarding revitalization strategies and the tools to support it, and the topic of mobile integrated health.

Economic Development staff, through its Land Management and Real Estate Services program, are working to create and implement a redevelopment program to assist in stimulating activity in focused areas of Las Cruces. This is in alignment with Elevate Las Cruces priorities and objectives and builds on past work completed for those priority areas. The presentation will highlight the available tools in New Mexico and recommendations on best practices.

Regarding the Mobile Integrated Health item on the agenda, the Las Cruces Fire Department (LCFD) desires to help individuals who call 911 frequently to access healthcare without any acute life-threatening condition. LCFD’s Mobile Integrated Health program has recognized that addressing high utilizing individuals is an essential strategy for managing 911 response, healthcare costs, and providing those individuals a better quality of life.

The Council work session agenda is available online at: https://lascruces.civicweb.net/Portal/MeetingInformation.aspx?Org=Cal&Id=173.

The TIDD Board meeting, Council Work Session, and agenda setting meeting will be televised live, beginning at 1 p.m. Monday on CLC-TV, Comcast Cable channel 20. Those meetings will also be available online at clctv.com and at YouTube.com/clctv20.
