The assessment study started in May and was completed in July to determine renovation priorities for the skate park rehabilitation capital project.
“The public survey drew really great constructive input from the skate and BMX community, which was considered in the assessment’s recommendations,” said Sonya Delgado, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. “Next step is determining how best to implement those recommendations within our limited budget.”
The feasibility of the proposed options will be discussed during the work session. “We can improve certain elements of the park as outlined in Option One of the assessment with the funding that we have now, and we can begin looking for other funding to make additional upgrades in the future,” Delgado added.
Legislative capital outlay funding in the amount of $845K was approved in February 2020 for the rehabilitation of the existing skate park. Funding was received by City Council in October.
