A Public Notice has been issued by the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) that pursuant to 20.6.3.300.B NMAC a Voluntary Remediation Agreement has been proposed between the City of Las Cruces and NMED for a property at the southeast corner of west Griggs Avenue and Water Street in Las Cruces.
The agreement proposes actions to characterize and remediate contamination in soil vapor beneath the site. Potential contaminants include tetrachloroethylene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), dichloroethene (cis-1,2-DCE and trans-1,2-DCE), and vinyl chloride (VC) in soil vapor. Prior to approval of this proposed Voluntary Remediation Agreement, NMED will allow until Dec. 14, 2020, to receive written comments and during which time a public meeting may be requested by any interested person. Requests for the public meetings shall be in writing and shall set forth the reasons why the meeting should be conducted. A meeting will be conducted if NMED determines there is significant public interest.
