Thomas Branigan Memorial Library invites you to a talk by award-winning author Joshua Wheeler from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, via Zoom.
The Alamogordo native teaches creative writing at Louisiana State University. His book, Acid West, is a collection of essays about southern New Mexico. In it, he traverses the New Mexico landscape his family has called home for seven generations.
Acid West, Wheeler’s 2018 debut, is an essay collection investigating American identity through southern New Mexico oddities: drone warfare, atom bombs, aliens, spaceports, Atari graves, memory, energy drinks, etc. The L.A. Review of Books calls it, “...fluorescent...brilliant...inventive...a book worth reading more than once.”
In addition to discussing his book, Joshua Wheeler will also speak about his research, writing style, and literary influences. Join us for this excellent opportunity!
