Kiri Daines, appointed in September as the Las Cruces Police Department’s acting Deputy Chief in charge of Investigations and Support Services, has now been named to the permanent position.
Daines’ announcement comes two weeks after Miguel Dominguez was appointed Chief of Police. Dominguez previously oversaw Investigations and Support Services as a Deputy Chief since 2016.
In her position as Deputy Chief, Daines oversees Investigations and Support Services that includes the Criminal Investigations Section, Intelligence Unit, the Law Enforcement Academy, Community Outreach, Administration Programs, and Metro Narcotics.
Daines is a 2000 graduate of the Las Cruces Police Department’s Academy and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from New Mexico State University. She also graduated from the 261st session of the prestigious FBI National Academy.
The Las Cruces Police Department has two deputy chiefs. Paul Brock, Deputy Chief in charge of Field Operations Services since 2018, oversees the department’s three patrol shifts along with the Traffic Unit, SWAT, and Police Service Aides.
