Residents on Reymond Street (from Picacho Avenue to Van Patten Avenue) and Armijo Street (from Picacho Avenue to Van Patten Avenue) will experience a water outage on Wednesday, December 16 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The outage will take place during the connection of a new water main to existing water main at the intersection of Van Patten Ave. and Armijo St.
Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, city crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, city officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear. The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all cold water and exterior faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the Las Cruces Utilities at 526-0500 for assistance.
The water outage will take place in the City of Las Cruces Council District #1.
