Las Cruces Utilities will be cleaning water lines on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 in the San Andres Estates Water System using the Neutral Output Discharge Elimination System (NO-DES).
The process removes accumulated iron and manganese in the water lines. NO-DES clean water lines without water waste, thus promoting conservation of water. Residents may experience no water or low water pressure during the flushing of the lines.
The affected areas are bounded by:
- Mesilla Drain, on the West.
- Las Cruces Outfall Channel, on the South.
- Railroad tracks, on the East.
- Fischer Road and Aliyah Road, on the North.
Residents in the area may notice discolored water due to iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for water line to become clear before washing laundry.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside lines or cold-water faucets in their residence for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 575/526-0500 for assistance. The TTY number is: 575/541-2182
