[ARCHIVED] San Elena Subdivision Water Line Cleaning

Las Cruces Utilities Truck

Las Cruces Utilities will be cleaning water lines from Dec. 28, 2020, to Dec. 31, 2020, in the San Elena subdivision, using the Neutral Output Discharge Elimination System (No-Des).

The affected areas are bounded by:

  • Mesilla Drain, on the West.
  • Railroad tracks, on the East
  • Las Cruces Outfall Channel, on the South.
  • Fischer Road and Aliyah Road, on the North

No-Des removes accumulated iron and manganese in water mains while cleaning water lines without water waste, thus promoting water conservation. Residents may experience no or low water pressure during flush cycles.

Affected residents may also notice discolored water due to iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry.

The discoloration should dissipate within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside and cold-water faucets in their residence for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 575/526-0500 for assistance. The TTY number is 575/541-2182.
