[ARCHIVED] Out-of-School Time Tutoring Services

Tutoring children

The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Youth Services Section will offer tutoring services beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, through the Out-of-School Time Program.

The locations and sessions will provide students in grades Kindergarten to fifth grade and grades 6 to 12 a safe, structured, and quiet space to get assistance while they are in the remote learning phase of the school year. The tutoring sessions will be offered at the following locations:

The program and activities will follow the Governor’s guidelines on social distancing. Temperature checks, face coverings must be worn during the program, and handwashing stations will be provided. Availability of sessions will be based on location and students can only participate in one session per day. Space is limited.

Registration will be from Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, through Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021. There are two options for registering your child, an online lottery registration or a drive-through lottery registration:

Online Registration – Monday, January 4 to Sunday, January 10

· Drive-Through Registration – Monday, January 4 to Friday, January 8

Selection for the tutoring sessions is determined by random lottery selection. Participants who are selected for a session will be notified no later than Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, by email or text message. 

Below are the session times. Participants may choose their top three choices for sessions; registration for sessions will depend on demand and space availability as we currently are limited to the number of registrants per session. Depending on availability more sessions/participants may be allowed.

AM Session: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Session: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

PM Session: 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Session:  3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

EAST MESA RECREATION CENTER            Grades Kindergarten to Fifth

Monday to Friday

AM Session: 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; Session: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

PM Session: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Session: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

FRANK O’BRIEN PAPEN  CENTER              Grades Kindergarten to Fifth

Monday to Friday

AM Session: 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; Session: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

PM Session: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Session: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

HENRY R BENAVIDEZ CENTER                  Grades Kindergarten to Fifth

Monday to Friday (afternoons only)

PM Session: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Session: 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

MEERSCHEIDT RECREATION CENTER      Grades 6 to 12

Monday to Friday

AM Sessions: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Session: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

PM Sessions: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Session: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
