[ARCHIVED] City Council to Conduct TIDD Board Meeting, Work Session, and a Budget Retreat on January 25

The Las Cruces City Council will meet via video conference at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.

The Council, serving as members of the Board of Commissioners of Las Cruces’ downtown Tax Increment Development District (TIDD), will convene for a quarterly board meeting at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. Immediately following the TIDD Board meeting, the Council will meet for work session.

The TIDD Board will receive updates on the tax district’s financial status and on TIDD projects. The TIDD Board will also consider the approval of minutes from its last meeting on Oct. 26, 2020. TIDD Board meetings are typically scheduled every three months.

The City Council Work Session has only one item on the agenda. The Council will be presented with a quarterly update on the status of General Obligation (GO) Bond projects. The update is intended to provide current information about the projects by highlighting background, status, and estimated timelines in both the design and construction phases of implementation.

In August 2018, Las Cruces voters approved $35.6 million in General Obligation bond projects The projects include: as much as $16.9 million for improvements to City parks, including sports fields and other related facilities; as much as $9.8 million to construct a new animal shelter and related improvements; as much as $6.2 million to replace First Station No. 3, at 390 N. Valley Drive; and as much as $2.7 million to build and improve recreational walking, jogging, and biking trails within the City. All projects must be completed by end of 2022.

Immediately following the Council Work Session, a brief meeting to set the agenda for the Feb. 1, 2021 City Council meeting will be conducted. The Agenda Setting Meeting will be webcast online at YouTube.com/clctv20.

The TIDD Board meeting and Council Work Session will be televised live on Comcast Cable channel 20 and will also be available online at clctv.com and at YouTube.com/clctv20.

At 9 a.m. Monday, the Council will also meet via video conference to discuss budget assumptions and framework for the City of Las Cruces’ 2022 fiscal year. The special work session will be streamed at YouTube.com/clctv20.
