City residents are invited to participate in a virtual meeting to be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 9. The link for the Zoom meeting is located at www.las-cruces.org/Engage. Scroll down the page find the meeting date and name and click on the "Register here" link. Attendees must separately register for a free zoom account before they can register for the February 9 meeting.

The project in the Walnut-Madrid Corridor directly affects about 185 properties and anyone who uses the route. The purpose of this project is to promote pedestrian and bicycle connectivity which encourages alternate modes of transportation. The pedestrian and bicycle improvements route is 2.25 miles which begins at the northern intersection of Hadley Avenue/Walnut Street, continues north on Walnut Street, crosses the intersection of Spruce Avenue/Kilmer Street, continues north on Kilmer Street, east on Popular Avenue, north on Evelyn Street, west on E. Madrid Avenue, and ends near the intersection of Madrid Avenue/Solano Street. Utilities infrastructure to be improved along this route include a new water main along Walnut Street, from Hadley Avenue to Spruce Avenue, and a new water & gas main along E. Madrid Avenue, from Evelyn Street to Solano Street.

“This is a great opportunity for community members interested in the area of the project to educate themselves about the project and learn about the interconnection of these areas,” said Jamey Rickman, the City’s community engagement manager. “For everyone’s health and safety the meeting is virtual and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions after a formal presentation.”

Anyone who has questions about the project may contact the Public Works Department at (575) 528-3333 or email Associate Engineer Natashia N. Billy at nbilly@las-cruces.org.

Anyone with questions about how to access the zoom meeting should contact the Community Engagement Office at clcengage@las-cruces.orgor call Jamey Rickman at (575) 541-2192.
