The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is pleased to announce the return of the Tierra Sagrada pop-up seed library! The Tierra Sagrada Seed Library (named after the mural in the Library’s amphitheater) is created to encourage Las Crucens to learn more about local food systems and regionally-adapted community seed saving projects.
Starting February 2, the Tierra Sagrada Seed Library will be available during select Grab-and-Go hours (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon). Seeds will be available until May or while supplies last. Each library patron is allowed to check out 7 packets of seed per season on library cards. There is no return date but patrons are encouraged to learn how to save seeds and eventually make a seed donation back to the seed library. Visit http://library.las-cruces.org and click on “Seed Library” for more information and a listing of available Spring seeds. Spring seed offerings are largely regional and growing season appropriate.
Community members who are interested in donating seed are asked to fill out a donation form to provide information on seed provenance and cultural history. Help us build a regionally-adapted community seed saving project!
