“Culture of Empowerment: Community Roundtable on Multicultural Programing in the Classroom”

Wednesday, March 3, 5:30 - 7 p.m. (MST)

Hear perspectives and give input on the strategies for putting culture into classrooms across New Mexico. The presentation features Dr. Georgina Badoni of New Mexico State University, Lucia Carmona of Raices del Saber Xinachtli Community School, Ramon Padilla of Alma de Arte High School, and Dr. Sabrina Zamora of Las Cruces Public Schools. Culture of Empowerment is a series designed around the idea that people are powerful when learning together. Each quarter’s topics revolve around a single theme, with chances to dig deeper, learn how to activate community impact, and connect with each other.

Discover history and culture through a monthly informal discussion series on the second Thursday of each month at 1pm. From January through March, the theme is “If these walls could talk.” In this presentation, Eric Liefield

“What’s the Word: Arabic - A Trip to Kuwait”

Thursday, March 11, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. (MST)

Learn language through culture! Dive into the history and traditions of Kuwait, while learning and practicing Arabic language skills. These are not formal classes but provide opportunity for learning and conversation between beginner and more experienced participants. Register to attend by emailing Kayla at kmyers@las-cruces.org. The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 501 N. Main Street and is accessible from RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1 Stop 36. The Branigan Cultural Center is closed for construction through June 2021.
