The New Mexico Japanese-American Citizens League (NMJACL) President Aiko Allen will engage in conversation with Julie Otsuka and will relay questions from the Las Cruces community.

NMJACL is the state affiliate for the Japanese-American Citizens League (JACL) and traces its origins to 1947 with the formation of the Albuquerque Nisei Club, a social club for Japanese-American families living in New Mexico. NMJACL is also a member of the JACL Pacific Southwest District (PSW), which encompasses the Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Southern California region.
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read annually provides support to select nonprofit organizations to host dynamic community-wide reading programs, each designed around a single NEA Big Read selection. Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is one of several public libraries to receive an NEA Big Read Grant this year.
