Meerscheidt Fitness Area-Weight Room

With Dona Ana County now in the Yellow Level of the New Mexico Department of Health's (NMDOH) Red to Green Framework, the City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will reopen some of the allowed facilities and/or programs. 

Targeted cardio and weight room hours at Meerscheidt Recreation Center (MRC), 1600 East Hadley Avenue will re-open with limited access beginning Monday, March 22, 2021. These amenities will be available by reservation only. Limited use of the facilities is aligned with public health order directives and the NMDOH guidelines. Court reservations, open gym, billiards, and sport sessions will not be available at this time. 

Reservations for cardio and weight rooms will be taken by phone call only at 575/541-2563 between the hours of 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. & 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning March 22, 2021. (Online reservations will not be available due to limited capacity.) The continuing reservation process and restrictions are as follows:

  • Fitness Area/Weight Room Hours – between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. & 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday 
    • Sessions will be 45 minutes long and patrons will be required to exit the facility immediately after their session ends.
  • Appointments/reservations for cardio and weight room access can be made one day in advance by calling 575-541-2563. (Same day reservations can be made if space is available).
  • Only one appointment per day is allowed.
  • Walk-ins will not be permitted.
  • Patrons will be required to have an updated waiver.
  • Patrons and staff will always be required to wear a mask over their nose and mouth.
  • Free weight access will be available upon request and limited due to capacity restrictions.
  • Patrons can check in no more than 10 minutes before their scheduled session begins and will have their temperature checked upon their arrival.
  • Patrons will be required to bring their own water.
  • Weight belts, mats, showers, locker rooms and lockers will not be available.

Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center (FOP), 304 W. Bell Ave. will offer table tennis by reservation from 8 a.m. –  noon, Monday – Friday, beginning March 22, 2021.  The continuing reservation and restrictions are as follows:

  • Table Tennis Hours - 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday to Friday. 
  • Closed Saturday & Sunday (no facility rentals).
  • Online reservations are not available due to the limited capacity. Reservations can be made 24 hours in advance by calling 575/541-2554. 
  • Walk-ins will not be permitted.
  • Patrons will be required to have an updated waiver.
  • Patrons and staff will always be required to wear a mask over their nose and mouth.
  • Patrons can check in no more than 10 minutes before their scheduled session begins and will have their temperature checked upon their arrival.
  • Patrons will be required to bring their own water.
