[ARCHIVED] Water Outage Planned on North Miranda Street

Hand turning off the water faucet

As part of the Van Patten Avenue Reconstruction Project, residents along north Miranda Street, between Picacho Avenue and Mountain Avenue, will experience a water outage between the hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

DuCross Construction, a limited liability company, will connect a new water main to an existing water main at the intersection of Miranda Street and Van Patten Avenue.

Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, City crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all cold water and exterior faucets in their residence for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the Las Cruces Utilities at 575/526-0500 for assistance.

The water outage will take place in City Council District 1.

For information, call the Public Works Department/Construction Management at 575/528-3098. The TTY number is 575/541-2182.  For after-hours assistance, call Utility Dispatch at 575/526-0500.
