Las Cruces Utilities will conduct a fire flow test on a fire hydrant in the area of W. Amador Avenue and Pioneer Place for two hours beginning at 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 8. The affected areas may include W. Amador Ave. from Archuleta Road to Westgate Street.
Businesses and residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, the city recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents and business should flush all cold-water faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the Las Cruces Utilities at 526-0500 for assistance.
