[ARCHIVED] Water Outage Planned on Melendres and Miranda Streets

Residents along Melendres Street (from Picacho Avenue to Mountain Avenue), Bonita Circle and Miranda Street (from Picacho Ave. to Mountain Ave.) will experience a water outage on Tuesday, April 13, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a new water main tie-in at the intersection of Van Patten Ave. and Melendres St.

Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, city crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, city officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all cold water and exterior faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the Las Cruces Utilities at 526-0500 for assistance.

The water outage will take place in City of Las Cruces Council District #1.

For more information, contact the Public Works Department, Construction Management at 575/528-3098. The TTY number is 575/541-2182. For after-hour assistance, call Utility Dispatch at 575/526-0500.
