Graphical user interface, application

Description automatically generatedWe live in a desert. Water is precious. Finding an easy way to conserve this valuable resource is important to us all. The question is, how can we make conservation a priority with a busy schedule? Luckily, Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) is about to launch something that can help us all do just that.

It’s called UtilityHawk, a new web portal that will revolutionize the way you manage your water and natural gas usage. “Our goal was to create a user-friendly web portal that gives our customers access immediately,” said Jose Provencio, LCU deputy director Business Services, “now our customers have more control over their monthly water and natural gas consumption and of course their budget.”

With UtilityHawk, you will have instant access to your LCU account information 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week. UtilityHawk converts “Big Data” into usable information to help you track your water and natural gas usage, set usage alerts, and view and pay your bill. And since we live in a bilingual region, you can even set your language preference: English or Spanish.

How to use UtilityHawk

The UtilityHawk web portal contains information and options to keep you updated on your natural gas and water usage. It gives you current and projected bill amounts, allows thresholds settings that alert you when you exceed set amounts, and provides your usage history. If you have multiple natural gas and water accounts, business and residential, you can see information for all of your accounts, making it easy to manage your utility use.

Every time you sign in, you’ll see information for your current billing period with both estimated and projected bill amounts as well as the amount of water and natural gas used.

Set Alerts

The Threshold page allows you to set alerts to inform you when you’re getting close to your monthly threshold amount and when you’ve exceeded it. This feature helps you track and adjust your usage in real time, giving you control over your monthly bill.

“Setting alerts through the thresholds and/or advanced thresholds is a unique feature because now you will be notified of any unusual changes to your utility usage and your account status and correct any problems,” said Jeff Dillard, LCU business systems analyst. This is important because a problem can raise your bill significantly or can potentially cause damage to your pipes and residence/business.

UtilityHawk also provides natural gas and water consumption information in easy-to-understand graphs. See your usage with hourly, daily, 48-hour, monthly, or yearly views to help with budgeting or conservation efforts.

Life is busy enough. UtilityHawk makes energy management and conservation a breeze. Plus, it’s free.

LCU Customer Central can be reached at 575-541-2111 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. LCU provides services to approximately 100,000 Las Cruces residents and businesses.
