[ARCHIVED] Pay your LCU Monthly Bill with One-Click

It’s a free service provided by Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) that allows you to track natural gas and water usage information and is updated four times a day. The web portal was launched April 15, 2021 and is already getting rave reviews from LCU customers. If you haven’t registered, please visit to track your utility usage, set up usage alerts, and even pay your bill.

That’s right, UtilityHawk provides an improved online payment system that gives customers some flexibility in how they pay their monthly bills. You can use Quick Pay or the Payment Portal. Quick Pay allows you to quickly pay your monthly bill, whereas the Payment Portal has a digital wallet where you can store your payment information, gives you the ability to view and pay multiple accounts at the same time, and even review your historical payment information made through this portal. 

“The digital wallet is a secure tool for UtilityHawk users to save and store specific payment methods for future use, so they don’t have to enter that information again and again,” said Nicole Hawkins, Paymentus, vice president of sales and marketing. Customers can use debit and credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, Discover) eChecks, PayPal, Amazon Pay and Venmo. When registering with UtilityHawk, simply click on the Payment Portal and enter your preferred payment information into a secure form. 

LCU enlisted Paymentus, the online industry’s fastest growing and most complete billing and payment network, to process and manage LCU customer monthly payments. “Partnering with Paymentus is a smart choice because the company already works with banks and the credit card industry and has the experience and security controls to ensure each transaction is safe and secure,” said Jeff Dillard, LCU business systems analyst. 

UtilityHawk itself does not store your personal financial information in the system. “This important information is stored safely and securely with Paymentus, who actively combats fraud, protects your information, and accepts all risks.  Protecting your information is the company’s livelihood,” said Dillard. 

While paying your LCU monthly bill online will save you time, LCU also improved the pay-by-phone service for customers who might not have access to the online system. Customers can call 575.541.2111 to make a payment anytime. The automated system is available 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week, 365 days a year in both English and Spanish. “It’s for people who may have a computer but don’t like using it or are not comfortable paying their bills digitally, we give them an option,” said Dillard. 

Regardless of the payment method you choose, LCU recommends that you review your bill each month to track your natural gas and water usage.

LCU Customer Central can be reached at 575-541-2111 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. LCU provides services to approximately 100,000 Las Cruces residents and businesses.
