[ARCHIVED] Road Closure for Mesilla Street and Newcomb Avenue

Roadwork

There will be a road closure at the intersection of Mesilla Street and Newcomb Avenue starting on Monday, May 3 and is anticipated to be in effect for two weeks depending on weather conditions for a Water Rehabilitation project for Las Cruces Utilities. The project will start at Mesilla Street with the crossing of the BNSF railroad and the EBID lateral. The construction of a new water main will head west to Valley Drive in the Alley north of Picacho Avenue. The existing water system in the alley needs to be replaced to improve circulation, reliability and to reinforce pressure.

Motorists wanting to avoid any possible delays should seek an alternative route. Access to surrounding residences will be maintained during the construction. For the public’s convenience, crews will work only Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. leaving the evenings free of construction activity. The road closure will not affect the RoadRUNNER Transit route. The City has verified that no conflicting public or private construction projects will take place in that immediate area during this time. The work activity is in City Council District No.1 and District No. 4.
