[ARCHIVED] Water Line Cleaning for Various Locations to Begin May 10

Water Line Cleaning

Las Cruces Utilities will be cleaning water lines using the Neutral Output Discharge Elimination System (NO-DES) in the Avalon park, Camelot Gardens, Valley Gardens, Highland Manner, North Highland Addition, Highland Place Addition, Corazon Del Valle, Golden, North Alameda Acres, Mayfield Annex, and Polston Addition Subdivisions.

Cleaning will begin May 10, and may continue until May 14, to remove accumulated iron and manganese in the water lines. NO-DES cleans water lines without water waste, thus promoting conservation of water. Residents may experience no water or low water pressure during the flushing.

The affected areas are bounded by:

  • North Valley Drive.
  • North Alameda Blvd.
  • McClure Rd.

This work is being completed in City Council District #4. Residents may notice discolored water due to iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside and/or cold-water faucets in the house for five minutes.

If the discoloration remains, call the City at 526-0500 for assistance.
