The City of Las Cruces wants to improve everyone’s health and environment. One simple strategy is to limit single use plastic bags that are given away in retail stores. Did you know on average:
A household uses 1500 plastic bags per year.
The average single-use plastic bag is used 12 minutes before it is thrown away.
Plastic breaks down to microbeads that can absorb toxins.
Each of us consumes a credit card size of plastic a week in plastic microbeads
We drink over one teaspoon of plastic microbeads in each bottle of water.
We want to hear from you. Please complete a plastic bag survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BYO-Bags
Respondents will have an opportunity to enter a drawing for one of 10 reusable bags!
