A fire at a mobile home early Saturday evening caused significant damage to the residence and resulted in relatively minor injuries to the occupant.
About 6 p.m. Saturday, May 15, Las Cruces firefighters were dispatched to the report of fire coming from a single-wide mobile home at 230 Three Crosses Avenue. Initial reports indicated that three individuals with disabilities may be inside the home.
Firefighters arrived and quickly determined the mobile home was occupied by only one person who self-evacuated. The occupant, a man, received a relatively minor injury and was transported to Memorial Medical Center.
Firefighters attacked the fire and had it under control within 15 minutes of their arrival. The fire caused significant damage to the rear of the mobile home. Though the park is densely arranged with mobile homes, no other structures were damaged.
Damage estimates are not available at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
