A processing error at the printing facility handling direct mail distribution for Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) caused a delay in the delivery of customer notifications regarding outreach meetings for the natural gas rate review. LCU apologizes for any confusion and inconvenience.
The Utility Customer Advisory Group (UCAG) will discuss the schedule and venues for additional customer outreach meetings at its June 9 meeting via Zoom.
“Our customers’ voice on the rate review recommendations is very important. Their input facilitated by the UCAG provides the opportunity to address questions on the cost of service evaluation that will guide the decision making process,” said Jose Provencio, LCU deputy director Business Services.
Once the UCAG schedules the next round of outreach meetings, they will notify customers through radio, newspaper, social media, and direct mail in a timely manner. While Doña Ana County and New Mexico continues to transition out of the COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting in early June will be virtual. “We anticipate the July outreach meeting to be face-to-face with our customers,” Provencio said.
The last time LCU reviewed natural gas rates was 10 years ago. The current gas rate review reflects cost increases in wages and benefits, gas system maintenance and safety compliance, and vehicle and equipment maintenance and replacement.
