[ARCHIVED] Missing Teen is Sought by Police

Genicis Avila

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 16-year-old girl who has been reported as a runaway from a youth facility in Las Cruces.

Genicis Avila was reported missing Wednesday evening from Families and Youth, Inc. on the 800 block of Idaho Avenue. FYI officials believe Avila ran away from their facility and may be trying to make her way to her biological mother, Yvette Avila, who resides in Houston, Texas.

Yvette Avila does not have parental rights to Genicis.

Genicis Avila is 5-feet tall and weighs approximately 110 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing blue ripped jeans, a light-pink shirt and black shoes.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 16-year-old Genicis Avila is asked to immediately call 911 or Las Cruces police at (575) 526-0795.
