The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science, 411 N. Main St., welcomes visitors back with in-person programs this July.
The programs are free but will require registration in advance. To register please email education@las-cruces.org or call 575/522-3120 before the registration deadlines listed. Pursuant to state health guidelines, social distancing measures are still in place and mask-wearing is required.
“Nature & Science Discovery Pre-K: Animal Homes”
9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursdays
Nurture your little one’s love of science! Preschool-age children and their parent or caregiver are invited to investigate nature and science through hands-on explorations, stories, and crafts at home. Pre-K takes place every at 9 a.m. Thursday. This program will take place outdoors in a shaded area. Register in advance for July by Saturday, June 19. This program is recommended for ages 2 to 5.
“Saturday Family Science – Automata”
11 a.m. Saturday, July 10
Use cams and levers to create your own moving, mechanical puppet. Registration closes Saturday, June 26. This program is recommended for ages 6 and older, adult caregiver participation is required.
“STEAMpunk – Garrett Morgan, inventor”
11 a.m. Saturday, July 17
Experiment with materials to create a water filtration system. Registration closes Saturday, July 3. This program is recommended for ages 6 and older.
“Sharks!”
11 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 24
Dive into the world of sharks with the Nature Center. Registration closes Saturday, July 3. This program is for all ages.
