City Clerk Christine Rivera recently was a presenter in a webinar called “A Clear View into Great Governance: Transparency and Efficiency in Public Meetings.”
Rivera’s presentation focused on how the development and preparations of agendas to electronic documents has significantly changed how public meetings are now conducted.
“I talked about how agendas and packets were created previously via paper and how moving to iCompass has really changed the effectiveness of how these get done,” Rivera said. “It has led to greater transparency for the (City’s) organization as well as saved time and money as everything is now created electronically.”
Local government organizations have faced more laborious challenges than ever before to conduct business efficiently while serving their communities, all of which has been heightened by the constraints of a global pandemic. As City Clerk, Rivera has been able to keep the pace of good governance, while keeping simplicity, efficiency and transparency in the forefront.
Rivera was one of three public-sector panelists. The webinar offered a 360-degree view into effectively managing communications with key stakeholders and the community, while maintaining excellent governance practices using best-in-class technology.
Rivera and the panelists offered their professional expertise and perspectives on the following topics:
- How governance portals enable local governments to seamlessly provide transparent communications to city or county elected officials, as well as the community they serve.
- How integrated video tools allow constituents to participate in council meetings remotely, increasing civic engagement even after the pandemic subsides.
- The encryption capabilities needed to ensure government communications are cataloged safely and securely.
- How cloud-based solutions offer greater convenience and flexibility for officials in the new hybrid work environment, as well as improved resiliency in future disruptions.
