Readers of the Purple Sage Book Club of the Branigan Library are pleased to host award-winning naturalist and author Sy Montgomery. She will discuss her latest publication: The Hummingbird’s Gift: Wonder, Beauty, and Renewal On Wings. The Zoom presentation takes place from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 24.
The Hummingbird’s Gift is a beautifully written and inspiring book about these tiny birds. Montgomery chronicles the work of Brenda Sherburn, who rescues abandoned hummingbirds and nurses them back to health until they can fly away and live in the wild.
Montgomery is the author of 28 books, including The Soul of an Octopus, a finalist for the 2015 National Book Award for Nonfiction. Other New York Times bestsellers are The Good, Good Pig: a memoir of life with the pig, Christopher Hogwood, Journey of the Pink Dolphins, Spell of the Tiger, and Search for the Golden Moon Bear. Sy Montgomery is “part Indiana Jones, part Emily Dickinson.”
Contact sagelibrary@las-cruces.org for Zoom invitation. “Hummingbird” as the subject.
