As part of the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program, traffic calming devices will be placed on Kilmer Street to slow traffic in the area. The City of Las Cruces Traffic Management section will have 2 speed tables installed on Kilmer Street located between Spruce Avenue and Ash Avenue the week of March 25 - 29.
The construction of the traffic calming devices will take place during Las Cruces Public Schools’ scheduled Spring Break. It is expected that there will be less traffic during this week while the schools are closed and will have less impact on the neighborhood. Markings and signage along Kilmer Street will be installed in conjunction with the traffic calming devices. City crews from the Streets section will be working between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily and should complete the project in about a week.
Motorists are asked to use caution through this area or use alternate routes to avoid possible delays as the construction will have intermittent road closures that will affect traffic along Kilmer Street. The City has verified that no conflicting public or private construction projects will take place in the immediate area and that RoadRUNNER Transit routes will not be affected.
