The Las Cruces City Council will meet via video conference at 1 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2021, for a Work Session.
A Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety presentation will be provided to City Council by Mesilla Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) staff members at Monday’s Work Session. MPO staff recently studied some intersections in the MPO Planning Area from a non-motorized safety perspective.
After receiving an initial presentation, city councilors on the MPO Policy Committee asked MPO staff for a follow-up presentation to inform and update City Council on the topic.
Additionally, the Council will receive a quarterly update from the Alliance for Regional Military Support (ARMS) at Monday’s Work Session. ARMS is a non-profit 501 (c)6 organization whose mission is to support White Sands Missile Range, Holloman Air Force Base, Fort Bliss, and by extension, William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
The focus areas are to grow the missions of each installation and to retain, attract and recruit defense-related industries to the region, working in partnership with the economic development entities of Mesilla Valley Economic Development Authority, Border Industrial Association, and the Borderplex Alliance. The city entered into an agreement with ARMS in late 2020 to perform promotion and advocacy services. This will be ARMS second quarterly update to Council.
The Work Session will begin with an Audit Entrance Conference with the Council and Patillo, Brown, and Hill, the city's contracted external auditors. Representatives of Patillo, Brown and Hill will discuss the scope and objectives of the City’s 2021 fiscal year annual audit review.
