[ARCHIVED] Do Not Block the Intersection

Do Not Block Intersection

The City of Las Cruces has installed several signs at busy intersections across the city reminding motorists not to block intersections.

As the State of New Mexico begins to fully reopen in July, motorists will return to the streets causing more traffic concerns, including congestion at intersections. Please remember to wait for congestion to clear before moving into the intersection. It is a traffic violation to block the intersection and failure to comply could result in a fine.

Even though the light you are passing through is green, if the roadway isn't clear, you are not allowed to continue into the intersection. Advancing into the intersection before it is clear could be dangerous for pedestrians and other drivers, and could delay emergency vehicles from passing though.

Please be courteous to other drivers and do not block the intersections.

The City has created a short video reminder on the topic.
