Hello super heroes from yesterday,

I want to send this note to you all as super heroes with whom I had the blessing to have an encounter yesterday evening… the first one on the scene was Andy Hume, as our Airport Manager. On his way back from a long day at LRU, he was driving to City Hall when he encountered a tree that had fallen and that was blocking one of the lanes on Picacho Street (high traffic). Given the high level of emergency calls, he was asked by PD to stay onsite with flashers on marked City vehicle to prevent anyone having an accident with the fallen tree.

Andy stayed on site for close to one hour, while he also helped as an information source as community members came to him with concerns result of fallen trees in their neighborhood, including potential gas leaks.

On their way back from attending an emergency call, firefighters in Truck 1 drove by helped us by setting emergency cones blocking the street, cutting the tree, and pulling it to the side of the road to eliminate the risk of someone having an accident.

All of this happened between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm on a Sunday night after a crazy weather evening with winds, rain, and lots of emergencies as a result of that. I did not get the names of the two firefighters who helped us last night, but I am including all of those who were in the shift.

THANK YOU ANDY, FIRE and POLICE DEPARTMENTS!!! Yesterday was definitely an evening where superheroes showed up to many emergency calls to help our community members. Thank you all for your help in crazy and calm nights…
