The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science, 411 N. Main St., will offer in-person Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs for children and families in August.
The programs are free but require registration in advance. To register please email education@las-cruces.org or call 575/522-3120 before the registration deadlines listed.
“Nature & Science Discovery Pre-K”
9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursdays.
Learn about prehistoric mammals through stories and crafts. “Pre-K” will be at 9 a.m. every Thursday. This program will take place outdoors in a shaded area. Register in advance for August by July 24. Recommended for ages 2 to 5, adult caregiver participation is required.
“Saturday Family Science – Solar Ovens”
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14.
Use the heat from the sun to warm a snack with a homemade solar oven. Registration closes July 24. Recommended for ages 6 and older, adult caregiver participation is required.
"STEAMpunk – Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, physicist”
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 2.
Explore the color spectra of light by building a simple spectrometer inspired by Nobel Prize winner Sir Raman. Registration closes August 7. Recommended for ages 6 and older.
“Bug Fest”
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 28.
Learn about bugs all over the world and the important roles they play in the environment and as a food source. Discover at your own pace while you explore the museum. No registration required. This event is for all ages.
