A new fire station is currently being constructed at 390 N. Valley Drive, in Las Cruces Council District 4, as part of the City's General Obligation (GO) Bond Project to replace the 54-year-old fire station building.
On Monday, August 9, contractors will begin the closure of one lane at each side of the median at the 300 block of north Valley Drive. These lane closures are expected to continue through August 27.
A traffic control plan will be implemented with appropriate road signs showing the construction zone, reduction of speed limit, barrel barriers, and flashing lighted arrows. The City would like to offer residents and businesses in the area a courtesy notice that there may be additional traffic due to the reduction of lanes. Traffic will be impacted due to the median work, but there will not be any noise outside of the working hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
