[ARCHIVED] Man Suspected of Photographing Teen Girl While She Slept

Nicholas Leeth

Las Cruces police have arrested a man suspected of taking inappropriate photos of his girlfriend’s teenage daughter while she slept.

Nicholas Leeth, 29, of the 900 block of Chaparro Street, is charged with one second-degree felony count of sexual exploitation of children and one fourth-degree felony count of voyeurism.

Police learned of the allegations against Leeth in April after his girlfriend reported finding sexually explicit pictures of her teenage daughter on his cell phone. Detectives obtained Leeth’s cell phone and served a search warrant on it. A computer forensics investigator located 132 photos of the teen girl from November 2019 to March 2021.

Detectives determined that most of the photos showed the teen girl asleep and in various states of undress.

Additional charges are pending. Detectives are continuing their investigation and believe there may be other victims. Anyone who believes they, or someone they know, may have been similarly victimized is asked to call police at (575) 526-0795.

Leeth was arrested Thursday evening and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he is initially being held without bond.
