The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have extended the existing mandate requiring the use face masks on public transit to January 18, 2022. The mandate was set to expire on September 13.
RoadRUNNER Transit riders are reminded to continue to wear face masks on all Fixed-Route and Dial-a-Ride buses, as well as inside the Mesilla Valley Intermodal Transit Terminal (MVITT) for the for the duration of this mandate. Proper masks are required for everyone over the age of 2. Masks must fit snugly, yet comfortably, against the face and always cover the mouth and nose. Cloth masks and gaiters are acceptable if there are at least 2 layers of finely woven material covering the mouth and nose. Individuals refusing to wear a face mask will be denied service and asked to leave the bus or MVITT. Individuals who create a service disruption related to the mask mandate may be reported to the Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and subject to fines.
RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-a-Ride wishes to assure riders that buses and the MVITT are clean and safe to use. Frequently touched surfaces are sanitized every two hours and vehicles are thoroughly cleaned after use each evening. Free disposable masks and hand sanitizers are available from RoadRUNNER drivers and Transit Customer Service Representatives at the MVITT hub for those who need them. Voluntary social distancing on buses, when possible, is encouraged. Please do not use RoadRUNNER Transit or Dial-a-Ride if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID and instead seek medical attention from a care provider.
