On Tuesday, August 24 the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) reminded New Mexicans the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given full approval to the Pfizer vaccine for individuals 16-years old and older.

The vaccine remains on Emergency Use Authorization for individuals 12 to 15 years old.

“The FDA’s action on Monday (Aug. 23, 2021) affirms what our data and experience have already shown us: that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and extraordinarily effective at preventing COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths. If you aren’t vaccinated, please schedule your appointment at vaccineNM.org today,” said NMDOH Deputy Secretary Dr. Laura Parajon.

In addition, NMDOH reminded New Mexicans that individuals who receive a first or second shot of Pfizer or Moderna - or a first-and-only shot of Johnson & Johnson vaccine - between August 2 and August 31 are eligible for a $100 incentive. To receive the incentive, New Mexicans must register at vaccineNM.org by 5 p.m. Friday, September 10.

Individuals can choose to receive their incentive by email, text, or physical mail. Incentives distributed by email or text can only be spent for online purchases. Incentives distributed by physical mail can be spent anywhere, online or offline.
