[ARCHIVED] Police Continue Investigation into Saturday Shooting

Police Continue Investigation

Las Cruces police are continuing to investigate a shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning and resulted in injuries to two individuals.

About 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Payne Street where a 42-year-old man was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his face, neck and chest. The man was initially taken to Mountainview Regional Medical Center before being transported to University Medical Center of El Paso.

His injuries, although serious, are not considered to be life-threatening.

About half an hour later, police received information about a gunshot victim who showed up at a home on the 800 block of Foster Road. There, police found a 15-year-old boy who had at least one gunshot wound to his lower extremities. He, too, was transported to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the 42-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were both injured during the same incident on the 1800 block of Payne Street.

Detectives are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information that’s relevant to this case is asked to call Las Cruces police at (575) 526-0795.
