Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols, intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated, will be conducted by the Las Cruces Police Department within city limits in September.
Police will also be on the lookout for other traffic violations such as drivers using cell phones, and motorists who fail to properly utilize seatbelts and child safety seats.
Las Cruces Police encourage motorists who plan on consuming alcoholic beverage to utilize a ride-share service or use a designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.
