Lighting renovations for the Women Veterans Monument at the Veterans Memorial Park are complete.
The lighting enhancements highlight six sculptures which represent women service members who honored the U.S. in each of the major conflicts from World War I through Desert Storm, in 1991.
Uplights shine on each of the sculptures, showcasing the traditional uniforms for women in each of the branches of the U.S. military. The lighting also highlights the monument plaque which recognizes the dedication of the United Military Women of the Southwest who initiated the project, worked with the architect to complete the final design, and garnered support and financial commitments to build the monument.
The Women Veterans Monument provides a space for members of the public to sit and honor U.S. women veterans while appreciating the sculptures and the service members they represent. Veterans Memorial Park, at 1251 N. Roadrunner Parkway, is open to the public from dawn to dusk every day.
